This is a kit I picked up for one of my kids that they started on and never really got around to . So I picked at it this week a bit . There are bad gaps that threw some putty at and now it needs sanding down . There is a backdrop that goes with the base that I cant find right now . I'm not too crazy about the base ,so I'll probaly make a new one . The paint on this one should be fun . Later on , Toad .

Toad

Cool---you are a man of many talents. Any idea what kind of colors go on something like this?

Ambush scheme might work pretty good. Otherwise, I'd suggest looking at some pics of flashy reptiles to get some ideas. Smile

Wow she's a nice beasty...
I like the dynamic pose. Like she sat on a wasp Shocked
For the base, how about some of those new Japanese company's paper ferns for the base? would make it 'pop' a little more...

Thanks guys , I've been meaning to post this one for a while now . I would like to find a T-Rex to chew on this guy , but getting the scale right might be a trick . Might have to be a young Rex if it's too small . I picked up another Dino the other day that I have set aside for one of the kids for Christmas . Later on , Toad .

Looking good. I notice you lowered the tail -- looks less like he "sat on a wasp." Shocked

Well I went with a earth with green tiger stripe look . The green is a bit lighter than I wanted it to be . Sorry if there was a bit of confusion about the Spike dinosaur : thats the next project . Later on , Toad.

Not for me dude, Tri meaning three . . not to mention the horns point forward. Wink

My son is thrilled with your pictures Toad, he didn't know there were Dino models too, he wants some now. He has been learning all sorts of stuff in school and has been drawing pictures like mad.

Your Ceratopsid looks cool, good thing about choosing colors here is there aren't any surviving pictures for one to say your camouflage scheme is wrong. Laughing

Now to make a cool dio for them !

I did a heavy oil wash over the base coat to bring the scales out . I also did a dry brush of dark yellow to give it more detail . For the base I used plaster of paris with some floral moss for ground work . The palm leaves are made from party streamers glued to wire . Thanks for looking , Toad .

Toad

This came out really well! You've got to be pleased. Also the ground work, while minimal, gives just the right accent to the piece. As Bob said "Cool"!.
